Friends of SCO

Your Invitation to Become a Friend of the Orchestra

The orchestra needs your financial support. Here’s how you can help and become a VIP audience member!

Sheffield Chamber Orchestra has been committed to offering varied, exciting programmes of music and supporting talented soloists for over fifty years. As costs are continually rising (such as music and concert venue hire) and as grants have significantly reduced, it is a challenge for any musical society to remain financially stable. Like many amateur orchestras, SCO relies entirely upon members’ subscriptions, tickets sales and the support of its friends to continue the tradition of live music in Sheffield.

The Orchestra is greatly indebted to the support it receives from the Friends of the Sheffield Chamber Orchestra, who each make a significant annual donation. We appreciate there are multiple calls on your resources – but a regular and reliable income helps the Sheffield Chamber Orchestra plan ahead.

This is how you can help…

If you enjoy the concerts and would like to contribute to the continuing life of the SCO, then please consider becoming a Friend of the Orchestra.  There are four tiers of support you can pledge, which will each give you different perks!

Solo Tier — £20 p.a.

(This is enough for us to cover printing of publicity materials for one concert)

  • Discounted tickets to £6 for yourself
  • One free programme at our concerts
  • Your name in our Friend List on each programme

Overture Tier — £50 p.a

(This would cover the cost of hiring a venue for one rehearsal)

  • All the perks of Solo Tier, plus:
  • ONE free ticket per season

Concerto Tier — £75 p.a

(This is equivalent to the cost of our annual membership to Classical Sheffield)

  • All the perks of Solo Tier, plus
  • TWO free tickets per season

Symphony Tier — £100 p.a

(This is equivalent to the cost of our annual membership to Making Music)

  • All the perks of Solo Tier, plus
  • THREE free tickets per season

Please complete the Friends Application Form (PDF format).

Gift Aid

If you pay UK Tax at the standard rate, your financial contribution can be further enhanced at no extra cost to yourself if you complete the Gift Aid declaration on the application form (more information is given on the form). Gift Aid allows us to reclaim from HMRC an extra 25p for every £1 that you donate, so please make the declaration if you possibly can.

Application Form

Here is an Application Form to become a Friend of the Sheffield Chamber Orchestra. Please print this form (3 pages) and then complete it by hand. Please return the first and third pages to the Friends Co-ordinator, and send the second page to your Bank.

If you experience any difficulties downloading or using the application form, please contact the Friends Co-ordinator by e-mail.

Existing Friends

If you became a Friend some time ago, please take a few moments to consider whether you might increase the amount which you currently donate. Our costs have risen dramatically in the last few years and interest rates on our savings have fallen, so we need all the financial help we can get.  Thank you.
